The IT User Skills Apprenticeship is ideal for individuals looking to gain employment through practical working experience whilst studying for a nationally recognised qualification. This qualification will offer the required skills and knowledge needed to provide support and assistance to colleagues enabling them to make effective use of available IT systems. It will also allow you to develop, test and implement solutions to improve workplace productivity through the use of IT.
The course includes a variety of units which cover essential skills required within the use of IT and are selected with the employer ensuring that they focus on specific aspects within the individual job role.
The framework is suitable for those whose main job role is to use IT applications in support of colleagues or customers in any sector or industry.
This can include:
Providing support and assistance to colleagues to make effective use of available IT systems and software
Developing, testing and implementing solutions to improve workplace productivity through the use of IT
Using the advanced features of IT Application Software in the creation and amendment of many types of formatted information including documents, diagrams, spread sheets and presentations
Maintaining simple websites, using the internet to find and exchange information and using social media to disseminate information.
NVQ in IT User Skills
Functional Skills- Maths/English/ICT (Exempt if already achieved GCSE/AS/A Level Grade E and above)
Knowledge of Employment Rights and Responsibilities
The apprenticeship consists of several components each of which will be assessed in their own way. Assessment will take place in the workplace; your assessor will visit you on a monthly basis to work towards the evidence needed for your qualification.
NVQ- Combination of online exams and a variety of portfolio evidence
Employer Rights and Responsibilities- Successful completion of ERR Workbook
Functional Skills (Maths/English)- Achieve the required examinations.
